System Design Coding Behavioral Case

So, I went to their office for like, half a day, it was an onsite thing. They had a few different rounds lined up: first, a system design chat with a senior engineer where we talked about making a lite version of Twitter. Then, a coding round with a mid-level engineer, mostly about data structures and algorithms. After that, I had a behavioral interview with the Engineering Manager, using the STAR method, and they wanted to know about teamwork, handling conflicts, and taking charge. Lastly, a product thinking round with a PM, they hit me with some scenario questions to see how I'd solve problems and understand what users need.

Technical Presentation

The interview process was super long and tough, with 4 rounds. It included a design assignment that I had only a week to finish. Senior people made it seem like I already had the job, saying my work was 'exactly what they were looking for' and hinting they weren't interviewing anyone else. After weeks of no news and me following up twice, they told me about 4 weeks later that I didn't get the job. The job ad stayed up even after that, and others had similar bad experiences. I'm worried they might be using the hiring process to get free design work. It felt like they exploited my time, effort, and ideas without caring about my career or well-being.

Behavioral Technical

I had a short interview with HR, then the Buying Manager, and finally the Head of Buying. Everyone was really nice and seemed interested in what I had to say. The whole process went pretty smoothly and they got back to me when they said they would, though I didn't get any actual feedback.

Technical Behavioral

I applied online and got the first interview, which was mostly technical sales questions. Then I had a second interview, and it was the same questions. The second interviewer said the first interviewer would 'definitely' call me back for further steps, maybe today, tomorrow, or the next day. They didn't call. I followed up by email, but they didn't answer. Since they said they would definitely call back, I declined another job offer. I even went to the shop to follow up with the manager. She said they decided to go with another candidate. The way they ghosted me was really unprofessional. They could have just emailed me, answered my emails, or maybe not told me they were definitely moving forward. It was very disappointing and unprofessional.
