Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Kate Spade New York.
Manager
First I spoke with the hiring district manager. Then I had another chat with a different district manager. The final step was a conversation with the regional manager. After that, the hiring manager reached out about what comes next.
- Tell me about your previous management roles.
Manager
The interview process was lengthy, with many stages. It felt like they were trying to find a suitable role for me rather than just rejecting me. This took up a lot of my time, and I still haven't heard back after my last interview. I've interviewed with them before and followed up on the first role, but received no updates. This company is too large and seems to neglect updating candidates on interview outcomes, even with a generic email. They should improve their HR process and provide basic feedback.
- How do you ensure your team stays on track to meet its goals?
Assistant Manager
For the interview at Kate Spade, they started with a mix of behavioral and situational questions. The manager took me outside to some picnic tables, which was nice and helped calm my nerves since it was a beautiful day and not too hectic like the store can be. She began with some easy questions like 'Do you own any of our products?' and 'How often do you shop in our stores?' She was really good at rephrasing the questions if I struggled to answer, making them more relevant to me.
- What strategies would you use to motivate your team to increase sales?
- Do you currently own any products from our brand?
- How frequently do you visit physical stores?
