First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Jive Software.
Software Engineer
The interview was pretty straightforward, focusing on object-oriented programming concepts, data structures and algorithms, and brushing up on your fundamental knowledge. Make sure to talk about the projects you've worked on at your company in depth. If you're new to the field, be ready to discuss your main project.
- Can you introduce yourself?
- Could you explain bubble sort?
- How would you explain the knapsack problem?
Intern
It's very hard to do this online. You should try a walking interview if you're interested, and there might be a chance they'll select you for the first step. Then, they will have a second and third round of interviews.
- Write a small Java app through an API, must include crud operation.
Technical Account Manager
The interview process started with a recruiter phone screening where they asked basic questions about my experience and its relevance. Next, I had a phone interview with the hiring manager. This was a more in-depth discussion about my experience, why I'd be a good fit, and a casual chat about the role. The final stage was a 3.5-hour in-office interview. This consisted of six 30-minute one-on-one interviews with various people including current TAMs, TAM Managers, Support Managers, and a TAM Director. I also had to prepare and present a 10-15 minute presentation to three managers. The whole experience was great, with really clear communication throughout. The in-office day was tough due to the time and stress, especially the presentation, but it never felt negative. It felt like a real mutual exploration to see if the role and I were a good match.
- Can you share some of your experiences that are relevant to this position?
- Could you tell me about your background and why you think it makes you a good fit for this role?
Business Development Representative
I reached out to a former colleague I admire and enjoy working with, and they told me a bit about the JIVE workplace and how great it would be to be working on the same team again. I agreed! I then met with the HR Recruiter, which was very pleasant. After that, I met with my direct boss, one of the field reps, and a peer. The conversations were informative, but you can't cover it all. However, one thing that would be helpful, especially if you haven't used the JIVE platform before, is to inform the candidate about the 'Onboarding' process. I was a bit blind to it but after a day or two it was fine, though it would be good to communicate a few sentences like: If you haven't used a JIVE intranet before, it's normal if you feel overwhelmed at first. It takes about a week for most to grasp the basics, and there's a checklist for you.
- Tell us about your most recent job experience in Business Development?
- We did a mock call; this part everyone is a bit nervous about, but in the end, it was fine/great. I understand why they have to do it!
- I also requested to speak with my peer after we did the role play.
