The interview had some easy to moderate questions about unix, sql, and operations. They asked about basic architecture in my previous organization. We also discussed working in shifts and compensation related to the work profile. They asked about various monitoring and scheduling tools.

The recruiter/HR person at the London office was terrible. They sent a quick personality test and said they'd call, but they never confirmed. I had to chase them to find out if the call was happening. When they finally called, they spent most of the time selling the company to keep my expectations high. Later, they sent a link for pre-interview questions and scheduling, which I completed. However, they never confirmed the interview or provided a meeting link. I waited at the scheduled time with no response and had to chase them again, only to be ignored. After a week, I got an email saying they were having a hiring freeze—total lie. This kind of unprofessional behavior wastes candidates’ time and messes with their emotions, especially when they need a job. It feels like a scam. If you represent a company, treat candidates with respect; your actions reflect on you and the organization.

I had my first interview with Interactive Brokers for a Senior Java Developer position in Hong Kong, although the recruiter was from India. The process started with a PI test, followed by an HR screen. I stopped after the HR screen. I was prepared for algorithm questions but didn't get to that stage. I'm not sure what went wrong. Ideally, I would have preferred a technical interview before the HR interview, especially since I prepared for questions related to projects using their API, specifically TWS API and Client Portal API.

The whole process took 4 weeks, which felt like forever due to the delays and anxiety. It was a horrible experience. We had four rounds, and then they put us on hold for HR. It was the worst and most mentally draining process ever. There was literally no communication for a full week. Even if I got the job, I'd struggle to say anything positive about how this interview process went.
