& Process

First, there was a screening, then two interviews, one with the manager and another with their manager. I got to ask questions and understand how the team is structured. After that, I received an offer and was able to negotiate for more paid time off.

I was interviewed by Art Directors after being selected by a contracting agency to work on the Michelin account team. The interview was wonderful, the art director I would be primarily working with was a professional and we commiserated about our shared experiences during COVID lockdown, as I have also led creative teams during the pandemic. She informed me that they had previously had difficulties with some production artists not being up to par, so they were looking for someone with more experience like myself to pay a higher rate for a higher level of management ability. I was happy with the rate and accepted gladly. I was told it'd be about 2 weeks for me to receive my laptop to start, and that I'd come in the first day to work with a dispatch person to learn their deliverables procedure. A week before the start date, I was told that the AD and other team members were let go and that they were rescinding and changing my offer to half of the agreed-upon rate, for budgetary reasons. I have declined. Bait and switch business practices should be a badge of dishonor and this company should wear it in shame.

So, the admin assistant totally spaced and forgot about my interview. Instead of meeting the people I was supposed to, I met three different folks. The first guy was chill, didn't ask much about me or my work. Then I went to the next room, where three guys were just hanging out, not talking about work stuff. The assistant asked if they could chat with me, and one dude bounced, but two stayed. They asked about my background while kinda playing with their phones as I showed my portfolio. One of them walked me out and then spent like 20 minutes rambling about something that had nothing to do with the job.

The interview process started with a quick phone chat about salary expectations, no room for negotiation there. Then I interviewed with the department supervisor, which was mainly a 'get to know you' session focusing on my work style and future aspirations. A few days later, I was invited back for a longer, nearly hour-long meeting with the Senior Project Management team. It was a bit intimidating with 8-10 people asking a barrage of questions, but honestly, it was also kind of fun. I got the job offer a few days after that. Overall, it was a pretty straightforward process.
