I was recommended by an employee for this role, and I felt I was very qualified. Even though I'm from out of state, I went through about 4-5 phone interviews. I spoke with the recruiter, the Creative Director, and a few Assistant Creative Directors. Everything seemed positive, and I was expecting to come in for an in-person interview, but then they ghosted me. The process wasn't terrible, and the people I spoke with were nice, and I think it would have been fun to work with them, but the way it ended was pretty unprofessional.

I applied for an internship and after being selected, I was asked to do a creative project. For the project, I had to pick one of three ads, analyze it, and then figure out how I would improve it and create my version. After completing the project, I had to present my work to a panel and then answer their questions about my project and about myself.

A recruiter from Colorado called me and we had a 30-minute phone chat. It was going fine until she asked about salary. I asked for their range and she refused to give it, instead pushing for my desired salary. I suggested I could research market rates for the job title and give her a range based on that. She agreed and said she wouldn't move my application forward until I sent her my findings. So I did the research and sent her an email with the data, and surprise, surprise, I got moved on to the next phase. That's fine though. I don't like companies that aren't upfront and play games with people's careers.
