First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at HomeGoods.
Merchandise Associate
The interview process was really quick, smooth, and the people were nice. The manager was upfront with questions and understood the hours I was looking for. They were helpful in explaining what's expected and even gave me their card. When I had questions, they answered and even called back to make sure I was set for starting.
- What are your expectations for this role at our store?
Sales Associate
It was like a standard interview, pretty conversational and straight to the point. They asked me basic stuff about my past work, when I can work, and how I'd deal with typical retail scenarios. Like, they wanted to know my approach for handling a tough customer or being a team player. It was a friendly chat, mostly checking if I'd vibe with the store's culture and could handle the daily tasks.
- Can you share an instance where a customer was causing trouble?
All Positions
The interview happened at a hotel for a new store opening. I thought it went well because I was early and answered everything. We had a good connection, and they said I'd hear back about a decision by the end of the day. I never got the call, which was really disappointing and felt disrespectful. I ended up accepting another job offer.
- Do you know about this company?
Back Stocker
It was pretty laid back, they gave me a lot of info and seemed friendly. They were a bit passive aggressive about meeting quotas though. They want you to be super flexible with hours and different jobs. But then it got kind of corporate, and they seemed to have a lot of company pride.
- How do you handle multitasking?
- What qualities do you look for in a good manager?
- How do you approach conflict resolution?
