The first interview was a virtual meeting where the hiring panel was nice and seemed genuinely interested in what I had to say. After that, I had a second interview on-site. For this one, I had to prepare and give a presentation showcasing my best work. Even though I ran out of time during my presentation, the interviewers, who were also the hiring managers, were really kind and polite about it. I didn't get the job in the end, but it was a positive experience and I'm hopeful for another chance soon.

The interview process involved two interviews and a writing assignment, and it was quite fast overall. The assignment was something I did at home and then sent back to them via email. They also wanted to talk to my current supervisor.

The interview panel included the hiring manager and their director. There were 6 questions total including one technical question (i.e., testing knowledge of the policy approval process) and 5 competency-based questions. For the competency questions, review the STAR method that the GoA uses and ensure you use concrete examples that highlight YOUR contributions.

The first part was a written test that didn't require any specific skills, so don't worry about it. Then they really pressed me on what I had seen about them in the media. I was honest, and I could tell they were offended because the media has been very vocal about their slow progress. So my advice is, don't be honest about all the negative media; they want to believe they are high functioning. They weren't personable at all and could really improve their interview skills. It was particularly awkward sitting at opposite ends of a boardroom table instead of closer together, which made it hard to maintain eye contact.
