FMC Technologies Interview Questions

So the interview process had two interviews, plus some unofficial meetings to get a foot in the door. You know, like that foot-in-the-door technique? I went to a bunch of academic seminars that basically felt like interviews and let me meet people from FMC Technologies. Then, the second interview was with HR and a Group Engineering Manager. They started with typical HR questions, pretty standard stuff if you've interviewed before. The last few questions were more specific to engineering and what FMC does, like asking 'what would you do?' Make sure you talk through your thinking out loud. Don't be shy.

So I got a conference call first based on my resume and the job description. The HR manager reached out initially, asking about my education, work history, and current salary. A few days later, HR contacted me again to set up an in-person interview at their main office. After that, about a week later, there was a conference call meeting with the department managers who are based in Scotland and Italy.

So I had applied for another job there before. A few weeks later, a HR person reached out and said I didn't get the first job but there was another one I might like. I said I was interested and they set up an onsite interview for the next week. It was about 30-40 minutes with the department manager and another engineer. They mostly asked standard questions about my background, school, and what I'm interested in. They also explained what the company does and what the role would be.

The interview process involved a technical written test, a group discussion, and then a technical and HR interview. They really like practical questions on how machine components are used. Mere bookish knowledge isn't enough; they prefer basics and applications. Don't over-emphasize higher education. Be ready to commit to working there for at least 5 years.
