First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at FiscalNote.
Account Executive
I applied for the role through LinkedIn, and they reached out about two to three weeks later to schedule the first call. The overall interview process was pretty standard, nothing particularly noteworthy. They didn't offer a great salary considering what the role entails. It involved a lengthy sales-focused interview process after the initial contact.
- Can you describe your sales experience?
- What sales quotas have you met in the past?
- Do you have any other standard sales-related questions for us?
Policy Analyst
It started with a 15 minute phone screening. After that, I was given a 3 part deliverable project with multiple subtasks that took around 6 hours to complete. In the end, I got an automated rejection. I have a masters degree and over 5 years of experience. The process felt rude and disrespectful, and I suspect they were just looking for free work.
- Could you review the provided legislation and identify its relevance to the client?
- What policy areas do you think would be relevant to the client?
Associate General Counsel
I applied directly for the Associate General Counsel job. Hillary contacted me because she felt my resume showed the generalist experience they were looking for and asked if I wanted to interview. Hillary was incredibly kind, organized, and made me feel welcome. She's very detail-oriented. When I mentioned another company was moving fast with offers, she expedited my interviews and offer timeline significantly. She put in long hours and was always positive, and I really appreciate her help.
- Could you explain your reasons for transitioning to an in-house legal role?
- What prompted your decision to leave your current firm?
- Describe your approach to collaborating with colleagues.
Sales Development Representative
So there were five interviews total. The first was a quick intro with the recruiter about FiscalNote and the SDR role, and I got to ask questions. Then, I had three interviews with two SDR managers and one senior SDR. For the first SDR manager, I did a mock cold email and a mock cold call. The second SDR manager and the senior SDR asked me a bunch of questions about my knowledge and how I'd handle situations related to the role. The last interview was with the Director of Sales, which was pretty chill. He asked me some behavioral questions and other questions to make sure I really wanted this job. They always made time for my questions and said it was fine to reach out if I had more.
- What's your strategy for dealing with rejection?
- In your own terms, what is FiscalNote?
- How do you make sure you stay positive?
