Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at FiscalNote.
Senior Software Engineer
It was pretty standard. I had an initial call, then a 3-person interview in the office, and finally a quick chat with an executive. I nailed it and got an offer the day after the interview.
- Design an object-oriented class structure for a game.
Software Engineer
It was tough but fair. I got to chat with different folks and was asked about all sorts of things, from pure algorithms to product strategy to architecture. It started with a phone screen, then a HackerRank coding test, followed by an architecture challenge, a React challenge, and finally a product-focused interview. All the interviewers were really nice and helpful, and they answered everything I asked.
- What can software engineering teams do to become more product-focused?
Software Engineer
The interview process included an initial phone call to discuss the role, followed by a phone screen that involved a coding problem and a logical puzzle. I also had a call with the CEO, which was a pleasant conversation. The interviewers were smart and pushed me to find the answers, and it was motivating to have interviewers who were supportive rather than intimidating.
- Can you solve a basic data structures and algorithms problem?
- Can you solve a logical puzzle that tests your quick thinking abilities?
