The interview process was pretty straightforward. It started with a deep dive technical discussion with the manager about the job duties. Then, I got to share specific examples and answer questions about my technical skills and background. After that, HR joined in for a more personal chat about my history, schooling, and what I want to do career-wise. It was a good chance for us both to get a better feel for each other.

So the interview process at Extron Electronics is pretty thorough, it took over three hours. It's basically a bunch of one-on-one interviews, like one person after another. It was cool to meet different people from the team, and then I ended up talking to some leadership at the end. What's kinda neat is that if they really like you, they might move you ahead to the next step right then and there. It really speeds things up and keeps you engaged. It felt like a good way to see how you're doing as you go. All in all, it's a lot, but it's organized and you know where things are headed if you're doing well.

The interview process started with a one-hour meeting with the Engineering Manager and another engineer. This covered my past job duties and why I left, then we discussed the role I was interviewing for and the company. Next, I met with the Director and VP of Engineering for about 30 minutes each. They went into more detail about my work history, asked about my knowledge of their products, and probed my reasons for wanting to join Extron. The final part was a 30-minute chat with HR, where they asked standard questions like 'tell me about yourself,' 'what's your biggest weakness,' and 'how would you rate Extron.' The engineering folks were really nice and helpful, one even gave me tips on how to navigate the interview. The HR person was more direct, not rude though, and asked pretty typical questions. Don't underestimate this last chat though, HR is the one who decides on an offer, not the engineering team.

Confirmed questions3 questions
  • Is it an issue for you to clock in and out, even as a salaried employee, and for breaks?
  • Do you use perfume or cologne, as the company discourages it due to complaints?
  • What are your expected salary and the reasons behind that figure?
