First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at emarsys.
Software Developer
So I had a take-home assignment that was 3 days, but it was flexible and pretty easy. Then, I had a technical interview with the manager and an engineer. I had to present my take-home solution and answer some questions about TypeScript and JavaScript. Lastly, there were 3 trial days where I worked with the entire team on actual tasks, including some pair programming.
- Technical questions about TypeScript and JavaScript were asked during the technical interview.
Deal Desk Analyst
I interviewed with the hiring manager and then got invited for a panel interview. The process was very slow from the beginning, and the recruiter was disorganized, scheduling the interview and then rescheduling it twice. On the day of the final interview, I joined the meeting link, but none of the 5 panel members showed up. I emailed the recruiter from the meeting link to inquire why no one was on the call, but they ghosted me. I then sent an email to both the recruiter and the hiring manager. The latter responded that the panel was on the meeting link and that I was the one who hadn't shown up. Highly unprofessional.

Software Engineer - AI
The hiring process kicked off with two standard interview rounds. Then, there was a weird 3-day trial period, which felt kinda risky and disorganized because I didn't get a contract first. The team was nice, but communication was messy and not efficient, with barely any guidance during the trial. They were looking for someone generalist but actually needed a data science specialist. Learning AI and backend stuff was limited, and they didn't seem to care about different skills. It was a frustrating and badly structured process overall.

People Specialist
The whole interview process had 4 rounds. First, an online call with the recruiter, who was super nice and chill. He mentioned it was his first weeks and he was still getting onboarded, so he wasn't fully prepared on the job details, but it was a good chat overall. Next, a home assignment with some required exercises and a bunch of optional ones. I did all of them to show I was really into the role. They liked my assignment and invited me for the third round, which was with the local HR business partner, followed by a chat with the local team. The final round would have been with the HR manager for Hungary and Austria. Sadly, I didn't make it to the last round because I got rejected with feedback saying I wasn't motivated or enthusiastic enough. It was both funny and insulting, honestly. I did all the homework, even the optional parts, made myself available the day after they contacted me, and went through the whole long process, prioritizing being available ASAP. I get it if they found someone more experienced or a better team fit, that happens. But saying I wasn't enthusiastic enough was just absurd and totally unprofessional. I never expected this from a company like Emarsys.
