Solutions Consultant
A recruiter reached out and gave me an overview of the company and the Solutions Consultant role. Then, I had interviews with: The HR Manager for a standard HR chat about my background and drive (in French). The France Sales Team Leader and the EMEA Services and Solutions RVP for a presentation I had to prepare on a technical subject sent a week prior (in English), followed by questions on the presentation, my technical expertise, experience, and motivation. Finally, I met the France Managing Director for a discussion on my experience and motivation (in French). I also asked to chat with someone currently in the Solutions Consultant role, and I spoke with a Solution Consultant in London. Everyone was really open and honest with my questions. The company culture felt very present throughout the interviews. I got an offer and accepted it because the process and the people convinced me to make the move.
- Can you tell me about your background and what drives you?
- Explain the job and how it aligns with your career goals.
- Tell me about your experience and what motivates you.
Solution Consultant
First, there was an initial call with HR to talk about the job description, my background, and motivation. Then, I had an in-person meeting with the Director and Team Lead from the Solution Team. We went deeper into my background and previous experience, especially my technical skills. The final step was an in-person presentation to Emarsys employees from different teams (HR + Solution Senior) where I presented a use case as a role-play, followed by a Q&A.
- Questions about your studies, international experience, internships, and work experience were asked.
- Following that, your technical knowledge was explored with examples from previous experiences.
- Furthermore, how you would react in potential problem situations was discussed, along with what skills are needed for the role.
Strategic Consultant
I went through 3 rounds - HR phone screen, a 1:1 with the Account Director, and then a final presentation to the AD and country head. They said they'd get back in a week. I got another offer, so I checked in with Emarsys. HR said the team liked my presentation and asked about my salary expectations. Since Strategic Consultant was a new role, I shared industry standards for my experience. Then I got a cold email saying I didn't mention needing sponsorship and they can't do it. I'd already discussed my visa needs with HR in the first call. It felt unprofessional to use that as a reason to not extend an offer, especially since they processed my candidacy without plans to sponsor. Such a waste of time. Companies need to value people's time. While not making an offer is okay, Emarsys gave zero feedback after multiple follow-ups, which is basic professional courtesy and a missed learning opportunity. All I got was silence, which was disrespectful and disappointing. I hope they improve.
