Product Manager Intern
So, I had two interviews and then there was this assignment thing in between. I got through to the last interview. The assignment was pretty straightforward, just some questions to answer, no real right or wrong answers.
- What is your motivation for wanting this position?
Product Manager
There were 4 rounds. R1 was with HR. R2 was with the Product Director and a PM, which was a pleasant and relevant discussion. R3 was a take-home assignment. R4 was a 'Trial day' on Zoom, which seemed like they were still figuring out how to do it on Zoom. After the last round, I was promised feedback by the next week. After a week, I reached out, and they said it would take at least 3 more weeks. After their additional 3 weeks passed, I followed up a couple times, but they didn't even reply. Ghosting a candidate after so many rounds and an 8-hour trial day says a lot about the company.
- Can you share an instance where you encountered a conflict with a stakeholder?
- What aspects of your prior workplace would you alter?
- Which metrics did you employ to gauge the success of products you've managed?
Product Manager
The initial interviews with HR went well. I was given a competitor analysis assignment, which I then presented on-site to a group of PMs. This went okay, though some feedback on the presentation would have been nice. Apparently, they must have liked it because I moved on to the final stage: a two-day trial at their Budapest HQ. Those days were quite disappointing, starting immediately with assignments without any introduction to the team or even an internal overview of their service. An internal overview would have been helpful since the tasks involved their service, which I only knew from their website. It felt unprofessional and a bit humiliating. I filled out a feedback form at the end but received no feedback myself. A week later, I got a rejection, which wasn't surprising given how I felt and their likely perception of that.
- What metrics would you track and what is the rationale behind them?
- Describe your strategy for entering the US market.
