Financial Analyst
So I had a bad experience with this company's hiring process. They invited me for an in-person interview but then cancelled it right before it was supposed to happen, when I was already on my way there. They said the hiring manager got sick. I get that things happen, but cancelling so late really made it seem like they didn't have their recruitment process together. What was also weird was that nobody from HR or the hiring team called me first to talk about basic stuff like salary, contract type, or when I'd be available before setting up an in-person meeting. All in all, it felt like a disorganized process and gave me a poor impression of how they communicate and value candidates' time.

Test Developer
So, I interviewed for a Test Developer role at Deutsche Börse AG. It started with a call from HR to talk about the job and set up the first technical interview. That first technical round had a Java Developer and a Software Tester asking me stuff about software testing and Java/Kotlin, like the difference between test cases and scenarios, how static works in Kotlin, and some core testing principles and practical problems. Then, the final on-site interview had five people – the hiring manager, devs, and testers. This one was mostly behavioral questions about teamwork, talking to people, and how I solve problems, but they also threw in a few technical questions. After that, I had a chat with HR about why I wanted the job and if I fit the company vibe. Then, I got the offer pretty quickly. It was a really professional and good experience, they really checked both technical skills and how I'd fit in.
- Could you explain the difference between a Test Case and a Test Scenario?
- Can you describe how the static keyword works in Kotlin?
Information Security Risk Manager
The whole interview process lasted about three months. I got the invite three weeks after applying. The second interview was two weeks after the first, and I heard back about the rejection five weeks after that. First up was a chat with the hiring manager. Then, I had to do this take-home assignment which I presented to the HM and a coworker, and they asked me some questions too. Honestly, talking with the folks at DBG was pretty good, I liked how we could just talk freely and they were open-minded. But, I'm sticking with neutral because it took forever and I got the feeling they weren't really sure what they wanted.
- Could you outline a system and approach for automating the gathering of quantitative security risk data from different assets?
Communications Specialist
It was a disappointing experience. After an initial introductory and technical interview with the manager, I was invited to interview with the VP of the department. Even though I was willing to attend the interview on a public holiday in Italy, I was told that the candidate would be chosen based on likeability rather than skills (which had already been tested). I sent an email requesting feedback but never received a reply. After a month, I can say that the recruitment process does not match the image the company wants to convey. Really dismal.
