It was a 4 round interview process with the recruiter, hiring manager, a team call, and then a Director. I made it through the first two rounds. Then radio silence. I even tried to reach out to the hiring manager and the recruiter, but there was no response. It's been two weeks. I don't really expect to make the cut but at least give people some respect and let them know you're going in another direction. I guarantee if they see this, then I'll get a response in the form of a rejection email.

The hiring manager and teammates I spoke with were experienced and passionate about the company. The interviews were conversational and insightful, focusing on long-term team culture and international strategy. The role sounded exciting and aligned with my profile. I was told I was what they were looking for. Unfortunately, after genuine enthusiasm from interviewers, I was ghosted. I had to follow up weeks later to find out the role was on hold due to budget constraints. No one reached out proactively. This felt misaligned with the company's emphasis on transparency and communication. Advice: Communicate proactively when a role or candidate isn't moving forward. Ghosting leaves a negative impression.

An internal recruiter reached out on LinkedIn and I had an initial screening with them. The first stakeholder interview was supposed to be with the CMO but it got cancelled due to an emergency. On the same day, they scheduled an interview with the hiring manager. We had a good talk, and I felt a good connection with the hiring manager. I left with a positive impression of the role and the opportunity. A few days later, the recruiter messaged me. They had talked with the team and decided to go with someone who was further along in their interview process. I appreciate them following up, but I wish I'd had a fair shot at being considered.
