First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at DDB.
Business Coordinator
The interview process was very smooth and straightforward. It was a little intimidating having 3 managers in the initial interview, but everyone was lovely and welcoming. They asked thoughtful questions, and it felt like a very relaxed conversation instead of an uptight interview.
- Can you describe what your current role entails?
- Could you provide a detailed account of a typical day in your current position?
IT Manager
The interview process was pretty straightforward and friendly. The HR and Head of IT were involved. There were 4 interviews in total, with 2 of them being online. They were clear about what they expected and guided me well through the process. Some technical questions were also asked.
- How many years of experience do you have?
- Tell me about your IT experience.
- What are your personality traits relevant to this role?
Communications Designer
It was a 5 round process, with each round having multiple interviewers, and one interview happening every week for over a month. There was also an unpaid design challenge. They were looking to replace the current designer director with someone at 65k, as they offshore the rest of the corporate design work for cheap. The C-Level I interviewed with really enjoyed talking about themselves. Ultimately, they hired someone cheaper with less experience, even though the people I met were great.
- Can you explain how you would approach this design challenge and how you'd implement the redesign within our company?
Human Resources
The recruiter reached out to me on LinkedIn, and then we meet via video conference call a few days later. It was a pretty laid-back first interview, however, the second interview with the actual hiring manager was not. The first red flag was that they did not have a copy of my resume, and I had to scramble and send them a copy via email during the interview. Then they did not seem engaged and seemed almost annoyed to have to conduct the interview. We talked about the next steps, but they never reached out and it's been over a week now.
- What are your long-term career aspirations?
