The recruitment process involved several steps: an initial phone call with HR, followed by interviews with the direct manager (Patron France) and the Southern Europe N+2. Each interview covered both sales skills (experience in complex sales, key account management, IT sector knowledge) and motivation to join the company. The whole process was smooth, professional, and transparent, with quick feedback after each stage.

Behavioral Presentation

Started with an HR chat to go over my background, whether I was a good fit, and general expectations. Then had a one-on-one with the hiring manager about my experience, skills, and what the role entailed. The next step was a presentation to the hiring manager and the person I'd be replacing. The recruiter told me I'd have 25 minutes, so I prepared for that. But then during the actual interview, the hiring manager said I only had 20 minutes, which wasn't enough time for my whole presentation. After finishing everything, I got an automated rejection email and no way to give feedback, so I had to chase them for it. When I finally got feedback, it mentioned parts of the presentation I didn't even get to show, which felt unfair and not based on reality. They also criticized my time management, which is ridiculous since they didn't give me the promised time. Overall, the process was poorly coordinated and communicated. After putting in a lot of time and effort, I felt dismissed with an automated rejection and feedback that wasn't accurate.

This was an assessment day organised by Pareto for Commvault at their Reading HQ. There were over 20 people for 2 English speaking roles and 3 for a Dutch-speaking role. The day began at 9 AM with breakfast and admin, followed by a company presentation from the hiring team and a Q&A session to gauge candidate interest. The first task involved introducing yourself and sharing your biggest non-academic achievement, with the hiring team asking follow-up questions. Next, a group exercise required preparing and presenting a mock pitch to a fictional company, with 7 people per group and 3 presenting. Assessment focused on contribution to the pitch, with presenting offering more opportunity to showcase skills. After lunch, the final exercise was a 3-minute presentation on why you want to work for Commvault and your three key strengths, followed by questions. This was the main one-on-one interaction with the hiring team. The team was friendly, and the post-presentation conversation was enjoyable. Four candidates were re-interviewed before offers were made. Results were announced in groups at the end of the day. I received an offer but declined due to a closer competing offer. The process was good and the people were lovely, though the day did run long.

First round technical discussion. Had a teams call scheduled for an hour. The interviewer didn't turned on his video and asked me to share the screen and turn on the video. This made the interaction feel impersonal. Asked some questions on LinkedList, Interfaces, and most of the questions on data base queries. The interviewer was mostly focused on syntax level knowledge. The perception that I got after taking the interview was that this is not the kind of company I would like to join. Based on the interview experience, I did not get a positive impression of the company. The technical assessment methods seemed outdated, focusing excessively on rote memorization rather than evaluating a candidate’s overall competencies and problem-solving skills.
