I had two people interview me and they asked general questions about my experiences with backup and recovery procedures for Lotus Notes. They also asked about my experience levels with MS Exchange 2003, Active Directory, and Group Policy objects. Questions came up regarding transactional logging of Lotus Notes backups, and the difference between full, incremental, and differential backups. We also discussed general job duties. A face-to-face interview is set up to continue.

Technical Behavioral

I was contacted by a recruitment consultant who asked me a few technical questions about Windows, Networking, SAN Storage, and VMWare, and also asked for a brief on my prior experience. Following that, I had a face-to-face interview with the agency. This interview was mostly a detailed discussion about my work history, and it included more basic technical questions that built upon the phone conversation. I also had to fill out a form for CommVault with technical and four behavioral questions related to CommVault's values, asking for past examples that demonstrated efficiency. The CommVault team reviewed this form, and after about 3-4 days, the consultant informed me that a technical phone screen interview would be scheduled. This was a deep dive into my areas of expertise and went pretty well. My advice to candidates is to thoroughly understand all the technologies they work with, like RAID comparisons, VMWare snapshots, and CPU Architectures. A week after that, the consultant called to say I wasn't selected because I lacked sufficient Windows expertise, which was accurate as I'm a Unix system admin. Best of luck to everyone else!

It was a really great process! We started with a phone interview, which is super convenient if you're already working. Then there was an in-person interview with a team lead and a senior engineer. The last step was a final chat with the support manager for APAC, where we actually played ping pong and just casually talked about the job and my experience. It really gave a good feel for the company culture at Commvault! Super happy I got the offer and I'm really enjoying it here so far!
