I had to complete an online technical assessment that was over an hour long. After six weeks, a recruiter reached out. They mostly wanted to know why I was interested in Circle and not much else. Another two weeks passed, and then I got a standard rejection email. The whole process was pretty ridiculous because the invite for the coding assessment said to contact the recruiter with questions, but they didn't provide a phone number or email, just a LinkedIn profile. I messaged them twice on LinkedIn and heard nothing back, even though I got 100% on the exam. It makes you wonder how they treat employees if this is how they handle candidates.

If you're thinking about interviewing at Circle, you should definitely read what other people have said—it's always the same story. It seems like they just ghost candidates all the time, it's not rare, it's the standard. The technical recruiters are super slow, unclear, or just don't respond at all. Don't think it's you, this seems to be how they do things. You might spend weeks interviewing, talk to a bunch of people on the team, and then just get radio silence with no updates. This kind of thing makes it seem like there's no teamwork or accountability going on. The recruiter I talked to was really unprofessional—they'd make excuses for delays with personal stories about being busy, family stuff, or other random life things, instead of just giving you quick updates or telling you what's next. It really comes across like the recruiting team is either badly run or doesn't care about professional standards. It's pretty wild how many bad reviews this place gets. And the fact that no one seems to have addressed them makes it look like there are bigger problems with the recruiting leadership and that the company and its leaders just don't care or aren't in a hurry to fix things. If you're still going for a role here, just know what you're getting into. The process could be slow, all over the place, and they might not communicate—and that might actually be a sign of how things are run inside the company too.

It took about 3 weeks to complete the whole thing. Started with a recruiter call, then a call with the hiring manager and some of the team. After that, there was a data modeling interview which was actually pretty simple. Then, there was a coding round focusing on SQL and Python. The HR mentioned practicing Leetcode, but the actual coding task involved reading CSVs, handling multiple files, writing unit tests, and considering edge cases. There seemed to be a disconnect between what the HR communicated and what the interviewing team expected, which was a bit frustrating.

Started with a chat with the Hiring Manager about my background and what's going on with the teams here at Circle. Then it was a panel interview, like a round robin thing. We did a coding challenge where I had to work with a Circle Public API in Python, mess with the data, and show it on a CLI. After that, a System Design session using a whiteboard – basically, how to build a system for making and getting documents. Then there was a Dockerfile challenge: taking a golang service and writing its Dockerfile. Finished up with a more chill talk with the same Hiring Manager about which teams I'd like to join.
