Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Circle Internet Financial.
Software Engineer
I had to complete an online technical assessment that was over an hour long. After six weeks, a recruiter reached out. They mostly wanted to know why I was interested in Circle and not much else. Another two weeks passed, and then I got a standard rejection email. The whole process was pretty ridiculous because the invite for the coding assessment said to contact the recruiter with questions, but they didn't provide a phone number or email, just a LinkedIn profile. I messaged them twice on LinkedIn and heard nothing back, even though I got 100% on the exam. It makes you wonder how they treat employees if this is how they handle candidates.

I got a call for a phone interview. The recruiter seemed cool at first, but then their whole vibe changed when they asked if I was looking at other places. I said yes, and then they asked directly if Circle was my top choice. It was kinda weird, I've never been asked that before, so I said it was one of my top choices. After that, I never heard back, and I'm not totally sure if that's why, but the interview felt different after that question. It felt like they were trying to filter out people who weren't absolutely set on them.
- Could you start by telling me a bit about yourself?
- What internships have you done before?
- What makes you want to work at this company?
Software Engineer
The entire interview process was really smooth and enjoyable. It started with a CodeSignal test that takes about 70 to 120 minutes. The questions weren't overly difficult but definitely required some thought. There were 2 written questions about APIs and databases, plus 2 practical coding challenges, no LeetCode style problems. If you passed that, a recruiter would contact you to discuss the company and the interview process. Then came 6 panel interview rounds. Everyone I met was super nice, knowledgeable, and seemed to genuinely enjoy working at Circle. Of those 6 rounds, only one involved coding, again on CodeSignal, but it was very practical, not like LeetCode. Three rounds focused on system design, which were pretty standard, with one asking about a system I had designed previously. The remaining two rounds were behavioral interviews, one with the hiring manager and another with a VP, both covering standard questions similar to Amazon's Leadership Principles.
