So there were 3 parts: first, a take-home assignment that included a coding exercise and reverse engineering malicious packages. It was pretty tough and I had a week to do it. Second, a Zoom interview with the team lead and another team member where we discussed the take-home assignment and they asked some tougher questions to make sure I really got it and did it myself. Third, an interview with both the team lead and the director. This one was more theoretical, focused on how I think. Unfortunately, I didn't make it past the third round. I didn't get any feedback, and after a week of chasing them, they just told me they'd moved on with someone else. When I asked why, they said 'it's not you, it's us' ;(

Presentation Technical

The interview process with Checkmarx was really disorganized and didn't respect my time. They gave me less than a week for a big home assignment, which meant working late and weekends. It felt too much for a senior role. Then, after I rushed to finish, it took over two weeks just to set up a presentation of my work, which made me wonder why the rush in the first place. During the presentation, one interviewer left early, and the others didn't seem to know my assignment, which was a bummer and showed they weren't prepared. I put in a lot of effort studying the product, prepping, and presenting, but there was no acknowledgment of that. It felt like they were more interested in my ideas than actually hiring me, which was frustrating and unprofessional. The whole hiring process seemed poorly planned and disrespectful of candidate time. It makes you question how the company operates internally. If you're thinking about working at Checkmarx, just know the process might be long and annoying, and they might not even be serious about hiring.

Behavioral Technical Other

The process started with HR and a Manager. Then there was a technical interview and an assignment. Everything was done over Zoom. The process was okay. They asked about salary expectations and the results came back pretty quickly. After HR, I had a call with the direct manager, covering both personal and technical aspects. Then I had to do a home assignment.

Behavioral Technical Coding

I had an initial call with HR where we discussed salary ranges, and she said they were a perfect match. Then, I had a conversational interview with the hiring manager, followed by a technical interview with the hiring manager and the team I'd be joining. It seemed to go well, and they said I'd hear back soon. After two weeks passed and I got an offer elsewhere, I called HR to check in. She mentioned she hadn't heard anything and then asked if she'd mentioned their salary range wasn't actually the same as mine. After that call, I never got any follow-up or explanation, which was really unprofessional and a waste of my time.
