First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Checkmarx.
Software Security Engineer
I had an initial call with HR where we discussed salary ranges, and she said they were a perfect match. Then, I had a conversational interview with the hiring manager, followed by a technical interview with the hiring manager and the team I'd be joining. It seemed to go well, and they said I'd hear back soon. After two weeks passed and I got an offer elsewhere, I called HR to check in. She mentioned she hadn't heard anything and then asked if she'd mentioned their salary range wasn't actually the same as mine. After that call, I never got any follow-up or explanation, which was really unprofessional and a waste of my time.
- Could you discuss SQL Injection?
- Can you write a script to count lines of code?
- How would you handle a customer service situation?
Applications Security Engineer
The job title and listing weren't accurate for the actual job. It's okay if the title isn't spot on, but it felt like the listing, where they could have put anything, was misleading. They seem to want to hire people who are overqualified for a role that is just about helping their client use their product.
- Do you have any experience with Spring?
Software Security Engineer
The hiring process was straightforward, structured, and moved quickly. It started with a recruiter reaching out, followed by a technical screening call. Next, I had to complete a technical assessment which involved a presentation. The final step was an in-person meeting with the hiring manager. All interactions were with friendly, professional, and honest people.
- Tell me about application security vulnerabilities such as SQL Injection and XSS.
