First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at BlueOptima.
Enterprise Sales Executive
First, an HR screening where they went over my CV and career, asked what I know about BlueOptima, who I would sell it to, to describe my most complex deal, and why I want to work there. Then, a meeting with the hiring manager, followed by a final round with the hiring manager and VP of Sales, which included a sales exercise presentation.
- Tell me what you know about BlueOptima.
- Who do you envision as potential clients for BlueOptima?
- Walk me through your most complex deal.
Tech
The company was unclear about what they were looking for. They posted the same job under at least three different titles and descriptions. For the interview process, they gave me a task that they said would take 6-8 hours. I completed it, although the instructions were confusing and sometimes contradictory. I then went through three rounds of interviews. They mentioned they wanted to hire someone by Christmas, but it's now the end of January and I've had to follow up with them. They're still advertising the role, and recruitment says they're still undecided. I've withdrawn my application. If they treat candidates this unprofessionally and insultingly, I can only imagine how employees are treated.
- When asked to describe X, why did you start by describing it?
- Can you explain why you began at that specific point when instructed to describe X?
Machine Learning Data Engineer
There were 7 rounds in total. First was HR, just asking typical HR questions. Then there were two technical rounds, the first with 2 basic questions, and the second diving deep into the architecture of object detection models. After that, I had an assignment. This was followed by a discussion about the assignment, and some technical questions around NLP. The sixth round was a brief chat with the BU Head about work culture and my expectations. Finally, there was a salary discussion, and they ended up offering me more than I was expecting.
- Tell me about your expectations.
- Can you answer some basic technical questions?
- Let's talk in depth about the architecture of object detection models.
Revenue Strategy and Operations Associate
It was a 4 stage interview process. First, I spoke with the Hiring Manager, who I think was in India. Then, I had a chat with the RevOps Manager. After that, they gave me a task to do within 5 days. The final round was with the RevOps Manager and the COO. The first couple of interviews were okay, they asked good questions to gauge my skills for the role. The data in the task was intentionally vague to really test you. The last interview felt really bad though, like it was designed to make you uncomfortable. I got some vibe about the company culture from some comments. Even though I was bummed about not getting the job, I figured out I'm not a cultural fit. They said I looked too nervous, which I still don't get.
- Suppose you need to implement a new routine for sales reps, how do you deal with someone who refuses to follow it?
- What kind of data would you have preferred to see if you were given more time, and how did you work with the data initially?
- If you had more time, what data would you have liked to see, and how did you handle your data when you first saw it?
