Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at BlueOptima.
Talent Sourcer
You have an initial interview, and if your profile matches what they're looking for, they'll send you an activity. If the evaluation of that is satisfactory, you move on to a subsequent interview with someone from London.
- How many candidates do you look for per day?
- What methods do you use to find candidates?
- Do you encounter issues when searching for past candidates?
Talent Acquisition Specialist
The interview process was long and difficult. First, I had to answer some initial questions. Then, I had a call with the recruiter, Amy. After that, I was given an assessment that I didn't think was very relevant. Finally, I had a last interview with two women, Kasia and Martina, who together have only 2 years of recruiting experience. During this interview, I felt they weren't really interested in getting to know me or how we'd work together, and they didn't seem to care about the candidate experience. They weren't friendly and made no effort to build rapport. They asked questions from a list that felt superficial. Kasia couldn't even answer basic questions like which TA activity is most crucial for long-term success or what questions we should be asking to identify the skills we're sourcing for. I felt the interview didn't go well. They still asked for my references, even though I think they had already decided. I didn't get the job, and the reasons they gave were things that had already been discussed. I didn't feel valued as a candidate. It seems like this TA department lacks focus, strategy, and overall experience. The recruiter Amy has been with the company for 3 years, and the head of the department for 1.5 years with no prior HR experience. These were red flags, but I still gave 6 references, which I now regret. Also, I don't see the value in their SaaS solution; it seems like a micromanaging tool for developers. I wish future candidates luck. The biggest challenge will be coaching the head of the department, who would be the hiring manager for roles she knows nothing about.
- Imagine you are the hiring manager. What questions would you ask me to ensure a successful search for this role?
Talent Acquisition Manager
I was contacted by the talent manager via email for an interview. The company's approach to recruitment seems outdated, focusing on quantity over quality. The interviewer was quite arrogant, and while maybe unintentional, she didn't do a good job of selling the company.
- Can you provide instances where you utilized metrics to assess capability?
