Had an initial 45-minute interview in English with the Talent Acquisition Manager. We talked about my experience and qualifications, and they gave me more details about the role. The job was advertised as remote on Linkedin, but they said it's actually hybrid on Av Paulista. It involves weekend work with weekdays off, and the salary is R$4,400. I wasn't selected to proceed because they were seeking a more senior candidate.

First, there was a recruiter call. The main focus was the technical interview. The first technical interview felt a bit outdated and not very useful. It involved a whiteboard exercise where I had to review a fake PR, and questions about complexity and concurrency. Then, I was asked to complete a small to-do list task. It's still being discussed whether using Copilot is allowed. After that, there was a design exercise, covering topics like video streaming, messaging, or Uber Eats.

The hiring process usually goes like this: first you submit your application, then they look at your resume. After that, there's usually a phone or video chat, followed by an in-person or virtual interview. They might also give you some skills tests and check your references. They're trying to see if you're qualified, a good fit for the team culture, and right for the job before the hiring team makes the final call.

Behavioral Case

The interview process began with a 45-minute web call with HR, covering my motivations, experiences, and availability. Next, I completed a remote business case assignment. This was followed by a 45-minute interview with two managers. Things seemed to be going well until they inquired about my French language proficiency; I have a conversational level. This was unexpected as it wasn't in the job description. The very next day, HR contacted me to inform me I wasn't selected because my lack of fluency in French meant I couldn't work on their French-focused projects. This felt unprofessional given that only English was listed in the job description and the language requirement wasn't raised until the third stage.

  • What qualities would you look for in a manager?
  • There was a question related to the business case.
