Product Manager
after a few interviews, i got a verbal job offer but then heard nothing. i was out of town on vacation so i emailed them when i got back and they scheduled another meeting. things seemed to be moving forward, but then i was ghosted again. i figured being ignored twice was a bad sign and i didn't follow up. the recruiter was great though, not the issue.

Relationship Manager
The recruiter arranged the interview with the hiring manager, and I met with them pretty quickly. It was a strange interview, not behavioral at all. The hiring manager just asked me questions about my current employer, almost like they were on a fact-finding mission about the company's status. I followed up with the recruiter after each interview; she responded within 24 hours and kept saying I'd know the next steps by the next day, but I had to follow up again. I found out I wasn't getting an offer because my application status changed online to complete, but the recruiter completely ghosted me. Around this time, another recruiter contacted me about a different role. I met with him, and he promised to follow up by the end of the week or early next week, but it's now been over two weeks since that first interview. My application is still under review, but I haven't heard anything. I've since accepted a job at another company, but the way I was treated wasn't very professional.
- Do you think your CEO is positioning the company to sell or merge with another company?
Software Engineer
It was smooth. First, a friendly recruiter called and asked about my background. It went well, and I got an interview date within a couple of days. Then, there were two rounds. The first was with senior engineers who asked about my background, projects, and experience; it lasted about 45 minutes. The second technical round also went well, but I couldn't solve the problem in time, although I explained how it could be solved. Overall, it felt good. I found out the result after 2 weeks, but unfortunately, I didn't get the job.
- Can you share an instance where you had to learn a new programming language or tools to improve your project? What steps did you take, and what was the outcome?
Proposal Writer
Applied online and heard back from a recruiter pretty fast. Had a phone interview and then a few more phone interviews. They kept saying how important it was for the proposal writer to get along with the sales and tech teams, so I had interviews with different groups. The job sounded cool even though the pay was a lot lower. They flew me out to SC for more interviews, and they all went really well. I thought it was a great fit. But then the group interview happened, and it was awful. Some normal questions came up, but a lot felt like they were trying to make me say negative things. Like they asked about the worst parts of my old jobs and what I'd do if it happened again (I'd quit). Then, during the casual chat questions, the worst ones came out. They asked me 'CNN or Fox News?'. Seriously? I didn't think answering was a good idea and they asked again. I got super embarrassed and said I wasn't sure we should talk about that. The manager finally stepped in and said maybe it was too political. But the damage was done. They asked irrelevant stuff and made me look bad for not answering. They focused on my personal life, habits, and interests instead of my skills. Then, when my flight back was delayed, they rebooked me on a flight 4 hours earlier. My campus tour got canceled. I was rushed to the hotel with only 4 minutes to grab my bag. The hiring manager was nice on the way to the airport, still talking about the job like I had a chance. She stressed cultural fit again at the airport and said it had to be a unanimous 'yes' to get an offer. The trip home was bad. I got a middle seat in the back, which made my leg swell, so I had to pay for a different flight. After all that, I didn't hear anything for 9 days, even after calling twice. The recruiter went on vacation and didn't even have a colleague follow up. After spending over 30 hours on this, I didn't even get a 'no thank you' for over a week. It was totally unprofessional. I already had doubts about the job because of the salary and the group interview, but the silence made me question the company culture. I've been told to report these offensive questions.
- What did you dislike about your previous jobs? What would you do if faced with that again?
- Do you prefer Star Wars or Star Trek?
- Who do you prefer, Hugh Jackman or Hugh Laurie?
