Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Benefitfocus.
Account Executive
I had a phone interview with the outside recruiter, followed by a phone interview with the Hiring Manager. Then, I was invited to their headquarters in Charleston to meet with several people. I spent about half a day there and met with Sales Operations, the Hiring Manager, and the CEO. I was supposed to meet two other people, but they were sick and unavailable. The office itself was impressive, very new and professional. The interview schedule was a bit messy because two people couldn't make it, and they had trouble finding replacements. The whole interview process felt pretty casual, not a lot of standard interview questions. The sales territories are pretty small, with under 200 prospects (companies having more than 1,000 employees).
- Can you describe your experience selling Benefits products or services?
Account Executive
First I had a phone interview, then I met with the local sales manager. After that, I had a brief chat with the regional sales manager. They also had me do a presentation, a PPT solution, for both onsite and webex managers. Lastly, they did background checks by contacting people I've worked with in the past, which gave me some insight into the hiring manager and regional hiring manager, who, uh, might not have been well respected.
- Can you tell me why you're looking to leave your current position?
- What is your motivation for joining Benefitfocus?
- Do you have any questions for me at this time?
Account Executive
The interview process was super thorough and really helpful. They're looking for people who are not just good at the job but also a good fit for the company culture. I got to talk with a bunch of different managers and VPs, and they were all really helpful and knew their stuff.
- How can I contribute to Benefitfocus's corporate goals and objectives?
