Information Security Risk Officer
The recruiter reached out and we had an initial chat, and then a follow-up interview with the hiring manager was set up. Unfortunately, the hiring manager didn't make it to the interview, and even though I was told it was due to unexpected things, nobody got back to me or rescheduled. I get that stuff happens, but it would have been better if they'd communicated more clearly and followed up.
- Could you provide an overview of your experience and background in roles related to security and intelligence?
Solution Architect
I went through four rounds for the Solution Architect position in Kuala Lumpur. The role shifted to Senior Engineer and then Solution Consultant II during the process. The interviews focused on architectural decisions, Cloud, Data-Driven design, and Kafka. Unfortunately, after the final round, I received no updates despite following up via email, which resulted in a two-month time investment.
- Can you explain how to prevent duplicate messages in a microservice architecture?
Software Developer
So, the whole thing was three stages long: two tech rounds and then a chat with HR. The tech parts really dove deep into projects I'd worked on, also asked about SQL, AWS stuff, and how to sort out Git conflicts. They also threw in some data structures and algorithms questions, like different kinds of SWP, Fibonacci patterns, and logic puzzles to see how I think. Basically, they wanted to see if I could solve problems. The HR round was more about seeing if I could talk to people, if I'd vibe with the team, and if I was a hard worker. They set up each part to check out both my tech smarts and my softer skills.
- What specific SQL queries have you used, and in what contexts?
- Can you elaborate on your knowledge and application of AWS services?
- Describe your process for resolving Git conflicts.
Credit Risk Analyst
So, first I was contacted by an HR person and we had a quick call about my skills and what I can do. After that, the HR told me I'd hear back about the next steps before Christmas. It's been almost two weeks, so I sent an email a few days before Christmas, but no response. Then, about a month later, I sent another email to get some feedback and see if I was still in the running. I finally got a reply in the first week of February, which was like, 6-7 weeks after the first call. They said they moved on with other candidates and because of an internal restructure, they couldn't get back to me sooner. I get that things happen, but don't give deadlines if you can't stick to them. It also shouldn't take that long to reject someone if you knew earlier.
