First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Wingstop.
General Manager
First, I had a recruiter/HR screening over the phone. Then, I interviewed with the Franchise Owner/Director of Operations via Zoom. After that, I did an on-site visit and spent time with the District Manager. Finally, I had lunch with the DM and received an offer.
- Can you tell me about your resume and experience?
- What is your leadership and management style?
- How do you handle difficult customers or employees?
Cashier
This was my first job and it was a great experience overall! I worked as a cashier for a few months. The team was nice and the work was busy but manageable. I got to use my customer service skills when taking orders and payments. I also learned how to be organized during busy times. Plus, I got free wings sometimes! If you need a first job to get some basic skills and work with cool people, Wingstop is a good place.
- How would you approach a situation involving conflict?
Crew Member
Applied and got a phone interview. It was short, asking about my experience and if I was eager for the job. They threw in some situational questions, and the call lasted about 5-7 minutes. They asked if I had questions, so I asked about career growth at Wingstop and what it takes to be a good teammate to help me do well. Right after, they invited me to a group assessment. I showed up 15 minutes early to chat with other candidates. We did a fun quiz about Wingstop's flavors. Then, we were split into three groups, rotating through three activities: 1. Building a tower with spaghetti and marshmallows (to test leadership and teamwork), 2. Acting out an interaction between a customer and a crew member at the registers, and 3. Creating a festive Christmas-themed menu for Wingstop. While this was happening, they called us out one by one for our individual interviews. In my interview, they asked more situational questions, about my experience, and why I wanted to work at Wingstop. They really liked that I showed them my social media handle, wingstopluvr69420, since I was a big fan before. It made the interview more relaxed but still professional. They also asked about my availability, what I'd expect from a coworker, and how I'd fit into the team. I said I'd be the go-to person for support. They asked if I had any more questions. I asked if the interview was going well and if I was on the right track, which they confirmed. I also asked about career progression again. Afterwards, we all played a Kahoot game about Wingstop before leaving. I got a call 2-3 days later saying I got the job.
- What is your current availability?
- Are you planning any vacations soon?
- In what ways would you provide support to your colleagues?
Brand Manager
A recruiter hit me up on Linkedin to set up an initial interview with a team member. We had a zoom call, and it went well so they wanted me to interview with the hiring manager. Scheduling was a bit tricky but we finally got it done. The HM interview went super well, and they decided to have me talk to 2 more cross-functional team members. The recruiter scheduled one of those interviews. I did the first team interview but was still waiting for the second one to be scheduled. I followed up to check on the timing, but neither the recruiter nor his boss ever responded back. They totally ghosted me. Would've been nice to at least get an update on the delay or that I wasn't selected.
