First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Williams.
Construction Analyst
This was the most annoying interview process ever. First, they sent an online screening which was a total waste of time. Then, there was an in-person interview where I had to play 20 questions. They were all STAR/behavioral questions and it felt really sterile. Instead of connecting with the team, I had to answer dumb questions about being a team player, which was boring. I withdrew my application after the in-person interview because the whole thing felt transactional and the recruiter was unprofessional.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel/Powerpoint?
I & E Technician
The interview process was quite promising at first. I applied and was contacted within about a week to set up a virtual interview. After that was done, there was no news about the next steps. On the bright side, you can typically reach someone at the main office who can find out who to contact and pass along some information. Even if the details are scarce, they do keep track of applicants and any communications sent. So, it's not a lost cause, just a tough wait for the in-person second interview. There's no clear timeline for when that might happen.
- How do your skills align with what the company is looking for?
Intern
The interview was very technical and focused on my past experience and projects. They really emphasized using the STAR method for answering questions. I was also asked about my group project experiences in classes and how they went. They asked for specific details about projects, even down to the chemicals used in separation.
- Can you explain your teamwork approach and how you ensure projects remain on track and successful?
Data Engineer
The recruiter was disorganized and the job description wasn't great. After I got an initial email congratulating me like I won the lottery, I had an online video call with 5 questions that you had a couple of minutes to answer. I had to email the recruiter twice to get the link for this call because it wasn't in the first email. A week later, I had a Teams interview with the hiring manager and two of his team members. They seemed nice but a bit unsure about what they wanted. I got an email 4 days later saying the process takes a couple of weeks, and that was the last I heard from them. I followed up twice via email over the next two weeks, but they never replied, which I found unprofessional. I later saw the job posted again with a different description.
- How do you see yourself as a good match for this role?
- What's the process for merging a hotfix branch into the main codebase?
