The whole interview process was pretty straightforward. First, there was a quick chat with a bot where I had to answer some questions. After that, I had a phone call. It all went smoothly, and I was offered the job. They do keep an eye on your performance metrics once you're working to make sure you're productive, but the job itself is quite simple.

Behavioral Presentation

The interview for Store Trainer was pretty thorough. First, I introduced myself to the Store Manager, which was like a screening. Then, I had a call with the Assistant Store Lead to go over the job more. About a week after that, I had a big panel interview with 7 people. I had to do some homework calls with them and store leaders before the interview. I also had to send my resume and a Letter of Intent to everyone. The main part of the 30-minute interview was a timed presentation about how to keep new hires around for 90 days, with ideas to keep them engaged with training and company culture.

The recruiter call was surprising because they didn't ask about leadership principles. Instead, the interviewer focused on my experience in retail, like displays, banners, and pricing strategy. Whole Foods is expanding with 100 new stores in the US, which explains all the hiring. My advice for interview prep is to focus on retail strategies and experience, along with leadership principles.

Behavioral Technical Case

I applied online and got my first interview pretty quickly. It was positive. It wasn't with the person they said, but the ATL was informative. She asked a lot of questions, and explained the job, hours, and times. I asked about moving up. I learned that a PT employee wanted a FT opportunity in another dept to learn a new skill but couldn't come back due to her new FT status. My desired pay wasn't mentioned. My second interview was not good. It was with the STL, TL, and the same ATL. They asked how I'd handle problems with coworkers and a customer service question. The STL asked about past companies and the culture there, but nothing about what I actually did. My last job was like WFM. The TL asked final questions brusquely. She asked if I'd look for FT hours once hired, which felt rude. She said the hours were less than I was told, and the position was Level 1 starting at $16/hr, ignoring my desired pay and experience. I got a rejection email the next day. Honestly, I was put off by the FT hours question. A month later, I applied for the same position at a different location (higher starting pay). I interviewed with the TL. It was a very different interview. He asked about me, and we had a great chat about me, WF, the job, expectations, and what they wanted. No dumb questions about handling situations or why Whole Foods. He understood why people look for work. We spoke for 50 mins. He called a few hours later and offered me the job.

Confirmed questions5 questions
  • Can you share an instance where you received excellent customer service?
  • How would you manage conflicts with colleagues?
  • Describe the organizations you've previously been employed by.
