Behavioral Technical Presentation

The interview process felt like it should have been paid considering the time commitment demanded, and it was during my working hours too. The 'Due Diligence' part where I got to pre-interview my panel seemed interesting at first, but it ended up being a hassle. I had five days to talk to ten different people, and all these calls had to be during work hours, forcing me to take time off consecutively. Talking to the people was tough because many had titles that didn't make sense, so I had to spend a lot of time figuring them out or asking them what they do, then rephrasing my questions. While most people were nice, many seemed worn out, probably because they were interviewing other candidates too. When I finally had my panel interview, the questions were standard, which threw me off since they gave me a list of topics beforehand and didn't ask anything from it. It felt like they weren't really trying. One interviewer got really confrontational about my experience. Even though I was technically overqualified, they brought me in, likely for my knowledge in other areas. But they focused on the one key part of the role where I lacked recent experience and interrogated me about it. They passed on me because of that, even though I was upfront about not having recent hands-on experience but managing people who do. They knew this was crucial for the role and still wasted my time. In total, I lost about 13 hours of work, impacting my pay and productivity at my current job. It felt like they had already decided not to hire me before I even came in. At the very least, they should offer a gift card to runners-up for the excessive time spent, which felt more like work than an interview.

The interview process can differ based on the location. It's important to know that the hiring managers might have already decided on their preferred candidate. So, to get ready, you should really prepare thoroughly. Find out as much as possible about the company and its main values. Also, research the specific department you're applying to and what makes it different from a regular grocery store. And don't forget the math – you'll need to understand profit margin, shrink, sales to purchase ratio, and inventory management, as these are key for this role. Customer service is also a big deal, and your answers should always prioritize meeting the customer's needs, no matter what.
