First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Whole Foods Market.
Supervisor
I really can't say it enough, do your research on the company if you want this job. I applied online and a few weeks later got a call for a phone interview. It was a quick 10-15 minute screening to get a feel for you and check your qualifications. Next, I had an in-person interview with two store managers. They asked basic 'tell me about a time...' questions, and this is where your research is crucial. The company culture and their 7 values are super important, so you need to connect your experience and answers to them. They really want to see you've done your homework. The final step was a panel interview. I had to bring a 30/60/90 day action plan and at least 10 copies of my resume. A group of up to 10 people, including other managers and people I'd supervise, asked questions about me, my management style, and 'tell me about a time' scenarios. You absolutely have to bring up the 7 values and show how you align with their ideals and culture. After that, they all vote on hiring. They called me a few hours later with an offer.
- How would you resolve a dispute between two employees?

Supervisor
I applied online and got a call the next day. I then talked with the team leader about the job specifics and they told me there would be a panel interview with about 3-10 people. They offered me $12.50 for the position. A week later I had the interview with 4 people, which lasted 20 minutes. They asked for my resume and I felt like I did well, but they called the next day to say they weren't hiring me. Maybe they hired someone more qualified?
- How would you handle a situation where a cashier is not acting properly and a customer complains about them?
- Can you share an instance where a manager provided you with constructive feedback?
- How do you process constructive criticism you receive?
