Although the offer took nearly a year to arrive due to internal changes at VML, the overall interview experience was good and not particularly challenging. The interviews focused on my previous work and what I could contribute to the team. I had multiple conversations with both the local team and some regional managers based in Singapore.

It took 2 months from applying to the first email from the company asking for an interview. Had a screening call with HR and two interviews. Got positive feedback both times but no updates on next steps. After some follow ups, got a date for when I'd hear back (they had additional interviews), but got ghosted with no response/feedback despite several follow ups. Very disappointing, especially after getting all that feedback. The interview process was basic - asked to describe your experience and that’s pretty much it. Overall it was very conversational and I had many opportunities to ask questions.

I had 3 interviews. The first was with someone from HR. The other 2 were with managers from the team. The second interview lasted 1 hour, where I had to present cases I worked on in English. They gave me a technical exercise to do, which was unpaid. The third interview involved defending this case in English and giving feedback on work done by the team. It also lasted 1 hour. I never heard back after that last interview.

Behavioral Technical

The initial call with the internal recruiter was positive and engaging, making me feel comfortable. However, the subsequent call with the hiring manager was disappointing. They not only failed to ask questions relevant to the role as advertised but also changed their mind about progressing me. This was unprofessional and disrespectful behaviour from a potential manager. To make matters worse, the recruiter had to step in, as the hiring manager didn't take accountability to reach out themselves.
