I interviewed with a bunch of people who seemed really unhappy. We talked a lot about my background and what I can do. Then I had to do this huge assignment to show what I know, and after all that, they just went silent for like 2 weeks. When I finally asked for an update, they hit me back the same day saying they needed someone with more experience. Seriously, stop wasting people's time. You can see their resume. And don't ghost people!

I began with a phone screen with HR. Then, I had two video interviews: one with the department's VP and another with the hiring manager. The interviews were relaxed and conversational, with no overly difficult questions. After that, I was given a design project to complete within two weeks. The project involved creating a color story, mood board, and at least nine original garments. Specifically, it required two outfits with a woven top, bottom, and outerwear, plus three knit tops. I submitted the project as a PDF and didn't get to present it. I haven't received any feedback since submitting my work. Three weeks later, I was informed that a more qualified candidate was offered the position. Interestingly, the job was reposted on my school's career page and other job sites just a few days after my rejection, and as far as I know, it's still not filled. I also asked the design team for feedback on my submitted project, but never heard back. As someone new to the industry, I would have valued some constructive criticism. Despite this, everyone I interviewed with was very professional and friendly, and I did gain some new portfolio pieces from the experience.

Had a phone call first to go over the job role and details beyond the basics, and to set up an in-person interview. Then, I met at the store where we talked about my past experience and the skills I have. The manager really emphasized communication since it's a sales job. We also discussed hours, but apparently they schedule flexibly. It wasn't a super tough interview, but the manager seemed like they could definitely have favorites.
