I had 2 interviews with the specific hiring team. The first interview was with two people, and the second was with a team of five. Both teams were great and seemed like they were separate from central HR. The team you'd be working for is responsible for hiring.

I applied online and it took about three weeks to hear back and get the first interview scheduled. The wait time felt a little long for just the first step. The first interview was mostly about Power BI and my past jobs. The questions were pretty basic, and I wish I'd gotten a better idea of how my skills would actually be used in the job. The whole process seems pretty standard so far, but they could speed up the scheduling. It would also be good if the interview went into more detail about what they actually expect from someone in this role.

It was an exciting fun process where they asked me adequately relevant questions about how I am qualified for the role. I'd recommend preparing for it. Overall it was an experience. Would recommend preparing for it if you'd like to succeed and not preparing for it if you wouldnt. Not every interview is the same, so my interview process may not completely apply to what you encounter, however if you are fully prepared it may not be entirely relevant, so do consider that in addition to everything else you are already considering.

It was pretty straightforward. They want to see your interest in the research area and that you have good grades. You might have to apply for outside funding, but besides that, they just want to know you're enthusiastic about the research.
