Researcher
There's one 30 minute interview where you'll be asked 4 questions. The questions will touch on who you are, why you're into this research, how this research internship will benefit you, and also some GPA related things.
- Can you tell me about yourself?
- What kind of research project are you interested in?
- In what ways will this internship be beneficial for your growth?
Student Researcher
They'll ask about your GPA and research interests, making sure they align with the PI's work. It's important to read a couple of their latest papers to get a sense of their current research direction.
- Can you tell me about the classes you've taken?
- What kind of lab experience do you have?
Graduate Student Researcher
The interview was directly with the supervisor and the process varies per individual. HR was not involved in my interviews. It's crucial to clarify with the supervisor upfront that any additional grants or awards you receive are exclusively yours. Some supervisors might allocate these funds to the lab or project instead of allowing you to keep them, leaving you with only the very low base salary.
