First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Tuesday Morning.
Accounting Manager
Hiring was quick, and it felt more like a chat than a formal interview. They were open about the department's challenges and the issues that needed fixing.
- How do you handle prioritizing tasks when faced with several urgent deadlines simultaneously?
Digital Marketing Coordinator
The interview process started with a 15-minute introductory phone call with a recruiter. Then, there was a half-hour video interview with the supervisor for the role. After that, there were two more video interviews with the rest of the team. The scheduling for everything was a mess; the recruiter rescheduled our first phone call and the second video call. The recruiter also didn't mention that they offered the job to another candidate, which I only found out when I asked for an update. Even though the people I interviewed with were really nice and gave me a lot of information, the whole experience was frustrating.
- Could you outline the entire process for executing a marketing campaign, from initiation to completion?
Store Associate
I got to the store for my interview and they weren't ready for me, even though I had an appointment. They couldn't find my resume and paperwork, so I was glad I brought copies. The two people interviewing me seemed awkward and just read off the questions. At the end, the manager just started telling me my schedule for the next week and what I'd be doing, without saying if I got the job. I asked if that meant I got hired, and the other manager told me it was $9.00 an hour and not negotiable. When I asked about benefits, she mentioned the 20% discount. I asked about the 401K, and she said they don't have one, but I mentioned it was listed online. She seemed confused and said nobody uses it so she doesn't know anything about it.
- Tell me about a mistake you made in a previous job.
- What's the pay rate?
- Do you have a 401k?
District Manager
I was contacted by a recruiter to schedule a phone interview. The first interview was with the recruiter and was pretty basic, lasting about 45 minutes. The second interview was a phone call with the Regional Manager, which lasted about an hour. It felt more like a conversation than an interview. The third interview was another phone call, this time with an experienced District Manager. This one was more about me asking them questions about being a DM. The fourth interview was a quick call with the Regional HR person, also very basic. After those four interviews, I was finally invited to the Dallas corporate office for in-person interviews with three executives: two from HR and one from Store Operations. I had to take a 5 am flight out of Denver, meaning I had to wake up at 1:30 am to get to the airport. Once in Dallas, I had to take a taxi to the corporate office, a 40-minute ride, for a 9 am interview start. It was really exhausting because I didn't sleep at all the night before. I felt the company could have had me come in the night before so I could be rested. This was disappointing, but I have a positive attitude and wanted to be a team player. I don't think I performed my best, but I hoped my background and the previous interviews would make me a strong candidate... but I guess not. Two days later, I got a call saying they chose an internal candidate. Very disappointing after spending so much time and taking personal days off for Tuesday Morning.
