Store Associate
I got to the store for my interview and they weren't ready for me, even though I had an appointment. They couldn't find my resume and paperwork, so I was glad I brought copies. The two people interviewing me seemed awkward and just read off the questions. At the end, the manager just started telling me my schedule for the next week and what I'd be doing, without saying if I got the job. I asked if that meant I got hired, and the other manager told me it was $9.00 an hour and not negotiable. When I asked about benefits, she mentioned the 20% discount. I asked about the 401K, and she said they don't have one, but I mentioned it was listed online. She seemed confused and said nobody uses it so she doesn't know anything about it.
- Tell me about a mistake you made in a previous job.
- What's the pay rate?
- Do you have a 401k?
Cashier
I applied in the store and they called me back in a few days for open interviews. I had a one-on-one with the main manager. He reviewed my application and mostly asked about my availability. He might have asked what I liked about discount stores or retail, but he really needed to hire people before their next shipment. He offered me the job and said he'd call in a few days to set up my first shift. A week went by, and I didn't get a call, so I called him. He claimed he tried to reach me but couldn't, which I guess was my fault because I wrote down the wrong number. He was pretty rude about it and had already given the job to someone else. Honestly, after how he treated me, I didn't want to work there anymore.
- What do you like about discount stores or Tuesday Morning?
Store Associate
The interview was super chill. It was just me and the store manager talking one-on-one. The assistant manager was there too, just observing and taking notes, maybe getting trained on how to interview. The store manager asked me some general questions about why I wanted the job and what I knew about the company. She was really nice and friendly throughout.
- What would you do if you witnessed a customer shoplifting?
