Behavioral Presentation

The initial interviews were really good and felt like casual chats. I felt confident about my marketing ideas for the company. However, the final interview was with a VP who has been with the company for over 20 years and was resistant to new ideas. She seemed to think she was doing me a favor by interviewing me and was a bit condescending. She even had to restart her computer during my introduction and blamed her team for it, which struck me as odd since it was her computer. While I wasn't bothered by the restart, her blaming her team for her own minor issue showed me how she might handle problems in her role, potentially by blaming subordinates while taking credit for team successes. She also mentioned at the end that she only cared about "getting the right answer" rather than understanding my approach, which isn't what an interview is for, and I wish she'd stated that upfront. It was also hard to prepare because I couldn't find any information about her online to understand her background or expectations for the marketing role. I'm relieved I didn't proceed, especially considering I would have had to report to her. I enjoyed my talks with my direct manager, but it's a shame if they have to deal with someone like her. I've had enough bad managers already.

It started with a phone call with the recruiter to go over my experience. Then, I had a 1.5-hour interview with the hiring manager, which included behavioral questions and a technical portion covering SQL and data visualization. After that, I had a 1-hour team interview with several team members, focusing on behavioral questions and some ice-breaker type questions. Finally, I had a 45-minute interview with upper management, which was all behavioral.

I got a phone call for an interview for the assistant manager position and scheduled a time to talk. I went to the location, but the manager forgot about our scheduled interview. After 25 minutes, I called the store to check, and he said he'd be right there. We were supposed to meet in the busy mall food court. We ended up interviewing outside in the cold, and I was shaking. The manager wasn't dressed appropriately for the brand, looking like a casual dad or nerd. He never apologized for being late or for ghosting me after I didn't meet the job requirements. So unprofessional.

I had a phone interview with the recruiter. They asked standard questions about my background. The conversation went for about an hour. The recruiter mentioned that my resume would be passed to the hiring manager and that they would reach out. I sent a thank you email right after and heard nothing. I followed up again a few weeks later, and still no response. Honestly, I found it very unprofessional, especially considering how hard it is to hire people these days. It really shows a company with poor values.
