Engagement Manager
I went through 4 interviews over 3 weeks, right around the end of the year holidays. First, I talked to someone from HR/Talent Acquisition, then I met with leaders from different departments. After all the interviews, they told me I was a top candidate and that the team was finishing up with other interviews and I should hear back the next week. But then, nothing. It's been over a month and a half since my last interview and I still haven't heard anything. It feels unprofessional and unfair to invest so much time and effort, only to be ghosted, especially now. A simple email saying they moved on would have been enough.
- Tell me about how you prioritize what clients need.
- Can you describe how you manage projects?
Technical Lead
The first round was a face-to-face interview. The interviewer started by asking for my introduction. They then picked a point from my current project and discussed it, later using it as a reason for rejection. The interviewer seemed unsure how to start and immediately jumped into a system design question, asking me to design the Trello platform. They didn't clearly answer my questions about requirements and non-functional requirements, telling me to make assumptions. I was a bit nervous, so I took my time, and the interview ran over by 15 minutes. The interviewer was concerned about their lunch break and left the design interview unfinished. I was rejected because they said my project-related clarity was insufficient and the system design could have been better.
- Could you design the Trello platform?
Senior Machine Learning Engineer
The interview process had 6 rounds total: 1. DSA Coding and MCQ ML, 2. HLD, 3. LLD-Round 1, 4. LLD-Round 2, 5. Hiring Manager Round, 6. HR Round. First 3 rounds were in person at the office and the rest 3 were online. I had an extremely poor experience with the interview process. There were delayed communications from the HR team. HR will ghost you and keep you hanging for a long time without proper feedback at each stage of the interview. Despite multiple calls and emails, they won't respond. When you assume it may not move forward, they will suddenly call and schedule the next round. Even after clearing all rounds and patiently waiting for almost 2 months to complete the entire process and having salary discussions, they ghosted again for a month. Even after multiple follow-up calls, there was no response. One fine day, a call was received with the response that I should not be hanging here and can start looking for other opportunities. Nevertheless, I had another offer in hand, so I joined another company. Please don't waste your valuable time here. I got to know from other folks as well that the company has its own internal communication problems and management issues. Even if you get an offer, get feedback before making the joining decision.
- Can you explain what a vector database is and discuss the various indexing techniques used?
- What is a vector database and what are the different indexing techniques?
Senior Backend Engineer
I went through 4 rounds of interviews. The first few were technical, covering Data Structures and Algorithms (DSA) with two LeetCode medium questions, Low-Level Design (LLD) where I had to define entities, attributes, and APIs for a BMS, and High-Level Design (HLD) focusing on a flash sale system. The last round was with the Hiring Manager, which mostly involved a deep dive into my previous projects and understanding the rationale behind specific components and their differences.
- Solve a LeetCode problem involving hashmaps.
- Solve a LeetCode problem concerning subarrays.
- Design the entities, attributes, and APIs for a Billing Management System (BMS).
