First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at TÜV Rheinland.
Engineer
This interview involved a face-to-face meeting with the hiring manager, and it really dug into how the candidate approaches problems. They wanted to see if you can handle time and quality well when you've got certain limitations. Also, they were checking out your attitude and how you bounce back from tough technical and strategic challenges.
- If faced with a tight deadline, would you compromise work quality or miss the deadline?
Analista Financeiro
Interviewed directly with the hiring manager, which was good because it skipped the usual tiring process of going through a recruiter and HR. I found it to be practical, but I wasn't approved because the manager had connected with me on LinkedIn and I didn't realize it was him, which apparently was viewed negatively.

Manager
A recruiter hit me up about a job that wasn't posted anywhere. Turns out the person in the role was getting the boot. The recruiter chat was cool, but the hiring manager was something else. Super arrogant, just bragging about himself the whole time. We looked at my resume, and it was a spot-on match. When I said I was happy with the job as described, he was bummed. He wanted someone with drive who actually wanted his job. He mentioned he wasn't planning on staying long (he's only been there 8 months) and the new hire should be aggressive about getting promoted. I thought that was weird and kinda unprofessional for a first interview. He then said he had to put my answers in his magic database to see if I was a good fit. Like, you're an expert, but you need a computer to tell you if I answered your questions right? He said I'd hear back in 2 days, no matter what, because he's all about a positive culture. Well, almost 2 weeks later, I told the recruiter how lame the process was. Then I found out they went with someone else... LOL. No regrets on this one!
- Would this job satisfy you long-term, or are you looking for more and don't want to get complacent?
HR Director
I had an initial chat with a recruiter from the local office via video call, lasting about 45 minutes. They asked me to detail my work history and inquired about specific experiences like international work, employment law knowledge, and change management. I also asked a lot of questions about the company and the job, and the recruiter was really helpful. I heard back about two weeks later.
- Can you provide an overview of your professional background?
- Could you elaborate on your experience managing and collaborating with global and diverse teams?
- What are your thoughts on compensation for this role?
