First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Subsea 7.
Mechanical Engineer Intern
I had 2 interviews: a preliminary one and then one with the team. The last interview was in November 2025. They said they'd let me know before the year ended, but they never did. I sent two emails asking for an update, and they ghosted me both times. It’s not that hard to just reject an applicant, you know?
- Can you describe a project you were involved in?
Engineer
I had a great interview with my would-be manager and an HR person. The interview was about 40 minutes long. The HR person spent about 10 minutes explaining what the company does, and the manager spent another 10 minutes describing the team's work. Then, I had 10 minutes to explain my previous role. There were only about 10 minutes of 'technical' questions, which were pretty basic. I also got to ask my questions at the end.
- Can you describe how you applied Abaqus and fracture mechanics in your past work experience?
Field Engineer
So I had an initial chat with HR, then an interview with the operations manager, and finally met with the Area Manager. It seemed to go well, but then during the contract stage, the written agreement didn't match what was verbally offered. The HR person wouldn't adjust the contract, saying it's a standard template and that the email offer, which detailed my salary, was what I'd actually get, with an annex to follow upon starting. Since they wouldn't change the contract, I had to decline the job offer.
- Can you describe a past challenge and how you overcame it?
Graduate Engineer
The interview process has two main stages. First, there's a phone call with HR, which is in English. They mainly check your English level and how well you can communicate in it. If you pass that, you move to the second interview, which is in person. You'll meet with the company Managers there, and they'll dive deeper into your skills, experience, and how well you fit the role. It's a chance for everyone to get to know each other better and see if it's a good match between you and the company.
