The interview process has two main stages. First, there's a phone call with HR, which is in English. They mainly check your English level and how well you can communicate in it. If you pass that, you move to the second interview, which is in person. You'll meet with the company Managers there, and they'll dive deeper into your skills, experience, and how well you fit the role. It's a chance for everyone to get to know each other better and see if it's a good match between you and the company.

I applied online and didn't have any interviews before the assessment centre day. The assessment day was at the Subsea7 office in Aberdeen. It's a beautiful campus with great facilities. They started with a presentation about the company and the day's schedule. We were split into groups of 8. I had a face-to-face interview with someone from HR and a potential team leader/manager. Before the assessment day, I had to prepare a 15-minute presentation about my final year project and its potential opportunities for the Oil&Gas market and Subsea7. If you get invited to the assessment day, they'll send you info. Anyway, for the possibilities for SS7, focus a lot on how they will affect SS7's values. I was a bit disappointed that no questions were asked about my presentation, they probably just wanted to see my presentation skills. The interview was followed by about an hour of personality questions. Then, I had a group exercise where we had to plan a route to extract as much gold as possible. It's a bit tricky and the hard part is coordinating a group of 8 people. They look for leadership qualities and cooperation skills (which is more important). After that, we had a technical questionnaire about Oil&Gas activities. Everything is related to design, so focus on safety and costs in addition to a bit of technical knowledge. The more you know about pipe design, the better. That was it!

I applied for the GEDS program starting Sept/Oct 2017, which includes a 2-year training period in Stavanger or Aberdeen. Saw the ad on social media, then emailed the HR manager to apply. A technical director interviewed me over Skype for about 40 minutes. They asked standard behavioral questions, and I think I did okay. They said I did well and I'd hear back in two weeks, but I never did.
