First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Stifel Financial.
Analyst
I applied and networked with the team. First, I had a phone interview with a banker where we talked about my background, my interest in public finance, and basic finance concepts. Then, I had more interviews with team members. They asked behavioral questions, we talked about my coursework and internship, and they checked my knowledge of financial markets and municipal finance. It was a professional and relaxed process with both technical and behavioral questions.

Product Support Engineer
First up was a chat with the internal Talent Coach, totally informal, just to see if we clicked. We touched on my past jobs and why I was keen on this particular gig. It felt really chill and went well. Then, I had the actual interview with the IT Operations manager and their assistant. It was pretty standard, mostly discussing my work history and why I felt I'd be a good fit. There weren't many technical questions, if any at all. All in all, it was quite straightforward. I think I connected well with both of them, and the conversation felt genuine. Thanks.
- Can you describe a typical day in your previous position?
Investment Banking Analyst
So I did a hirevue first, which was like a mix of behaviorals, technicals, and some brain teaser stuff. Then I had a superday which had 3 rounds, 2 regular and 1 technical. Since I went through the diversity program, the process was accelerated. You should definitely prepare a solid 'Why Stifel' and 'Why IBD' answer.

Client Associate
I'm not sure if I got the offer, but this interview was incredibly disrespectful. It started with the interviewer criticizing my college degree. Then, he asked difficult questions about tariffs and tax laws, which I admit I didn't know much about. My main issue, though, was him telling me I need to add more value to grow, and then I saw him watching TV through a reflection, not paying attention. I drove an hour for this, and his attitude made me feel like my time wasn't valued. It was rude, especially coming from a manager.
