I had a really bad recruitment experience at Standard Chartered Bank. We were told to be there before 9 AM, but they started a Women's Day event and speeches for almost two hours before any interviews began, which we weren't told about. Interviews only started around noon and were held in the cafeteria, which was weird. I passed two rounds and got to a third virtual techno-managerial round. The interviewer liked me, but I was rejected because the 'requirement is on hold.' Over 100 people attended, and nobody got an offer after the third round. They shouldn't have had the drive if there was no real need, wasting everyone's time and travel. It felt disorganized and disrespectful.

I applied through the Standard Chartered Bank careers website. About two weeks later, a recruiter called and invited me for a face-to-face interview with the hiring manager. Before that, I had to do an online assessment. If I passed that, I would have a second interview with the Head of Department within two days of the first one. After both interviews, it takes about 2-3 weeks for the final decision.

After submitting my CV, it went through a couple of recruiters. I waited weeks for an update, and then got invited for an interview on very short notice. It seemed to go well, and the hiring manager told me I'd hear about the next steps within 48 hours. However, it took 6 weeks and multiple calls, emails, and LinkedIn messages before I received an email saying they had appointed someone else. There was no apology for the delay, no feedback, nothing. It was an awful experience; I would never apply for another role here. Basic recruitment processes and protocols were not followed, and nothing in this entire experience made me feel valued or respected.

I applied online for an HR position and was contacted by email to answer 3 questions about work authorization, salary expectations, and availability for my application. I gave my answers and asked for the salary grid offered for the role because I am open on the compensation aspect. On the other hand, I was ghosted by my contact and received an automatic rejection email after about ten days following my email. Since the European directive on salary transparency will soon come into force throughout the EU, I consider this behavior to be a major red flag. I advise you not to apply to this company.
