The hiring manager talked about the job and the team. Then, they asked me about why I want to switch careers, derivative pricing, risk, and IT stuff. No coding or algorithm stuff. It took about 1.5 hours.

The interview process began with an HR interview where I was asked to introduce myself, discuss my interest in joining the company, and received an overview of the company. This was followed by a business interview, which also started with a self-introduction. For this part, I was asked situational questions based on my CV (and for fresh graduates, questions related to campus experiences). They also asked about my knowledge of the industry, and there was a Q&A session.

I applied through a recruitment consultant and went through 2 rounds of interviews. I didn't get a job description or any details about the role beforehand. The interviewer was a senior person and seemed most interested in my understanding of risk fundamentals and macroeconomics. I only found out it was for a Market Risk BA role when I asked during the interview. The second round provided more specifics about the job. I think I would have done better if I'd known more about the role's details earlier.

  • Can you discuss market risk factors?
  • Could you explain Value at Risk (VaR)?
  • Tell me about correlations in market risk.
