First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Sony Electronics.
Compensation Analyst
Applied, then I did a questionnaire, then I spoke with the hiring manager, and the final step was a panel interview. The process was simple, but I interviewed around the time of the Sony summer shutdown so communication was delayed and I had to constantly follow up for updates. It took six weeks from my interview with the hiring manager to get a final update from Recruiting that I wasn't selected for the final round.
- What about this role caught your attention?
- What's prompting your job search away from your current position?
- Describe your approach when encountering a task in Excel that pushes the boundaries of its capabilities.
Digital Marketing Specialist
I had a video call with the recruiter and then the hiring manager, each for about 30 minutes, all within three weeks after I applied. The recruiter asked about my experience, and the hiring manager asked about tools I've used and gave me situational questions, like asking about a project I was proud of or difficulties I faced in the job.
- Tell me about your experience with project management tools.
- How do you maintain organization in your work?
- Describe a project that you found particularly enjoyable.
Content Marketing Specialist
The interview process was pretty standard for a big company, though they seemed to be in a hurry with their timeline. It ended up taking 8 weeks from the initial recruiter chat to the final interview. There was a lot of waiting around because of scheduling conflicts and the need to review other applicants. I went through 3 rounds, and the final one involved presenting a prepared assignment to the panel. The interview questions were quite straightforward, mostly focusing on discussing my previous work experience.
- Can you explain how you measured the success of the metrics you reported on your resume from your previous role?
Manager
The interview process was pretty standard and overall a great experience. The employees were professional, friendly, and passionate about their jobs and the company. My only feedback is about using Teams, which is more of a Microsoft issue than Sony's. Every interview on Teams had some sort of problem, whether it was with the universal link or even downloading the app, which made me a bit late sometimes. Here's how it went: I found the job on LinkedIn and applied through Workday. About two weeks later, the recruiter contacted me for a screening interview where I talked about my work experience and answered some position-related questions. Then, I had three more interviews: one with the hiring manager, a virtual panel with 5 cross-functional teammates, and finally, one with the head of the department.
- What are your reasons for wanting to join Sony?
